What makes academic-private sector collaboration a success?

Company T have been investing heavily in open innovation schemes. However, the track record of these schemes were variable. The company analysed the drivers behind successful open innovation programmes and identified a series of behavioural (e.g., collaborative and hands-on involvement of the academics), resource (e.g., capable scouting professionals, minimum investment level for a programme) and technical requirements (e.g., IP framework).
